Training models 

Currently, the National University of Civil Engineering organizes to train in both grades: undergraduate and graduate.

Undergraduate (Engineer and Architect degree) has the training system as below:

  • Fulltime: Training period of 5 years, concentrate;
  • Second diploma: Training period of 3 years, concentrate;
  • Connected system: Training period of 2.5 years, concentrate;
  • Work and study system: Training period of 5.5 years.

Graduate: Training Master and Ph.D 

Besides, the University also organizes short-term training programs (with certificate) in order to foster and improve knowledge with subjects which derived from practical requirements as Supervision of Construction, Management of Construction Investment project, Procurement construction, Real Estate as well as Improved skills classes for newly graduated Engineer, etc.

Training scale

In November 2015, training scale of the University was 23,954 students, trainees, research students, including:

  • University: 21,869 students, include:

+ Fulltime: 18,869 students;

+ Work and study system: 3,000 students;

  • Graduate: 2,085 students, include:

            + Master: 1,950 students

            + Ph.D: 135 research students

In recent years, the enrollment scale of fulltime undergraduate trainings has remained relatively stable around 3,000 students per year. Enrollment scale of graduate has had significant growth.

Management training methods

Since 1995, the National University of Civil Engineering had been the first unit in the North which carried out a pilot training in the form of credits. So far, the University applies the two methods for different target groups:

  • Credit training: Apply for fulltime university system, second diploma and postgraduate or graduate (Master training).
  • Fixed-curriculum training: Apply for work and study system.

Training program

During the training activities, the National University of Civil Engineering always interested in innovated content research of training programs which towards the updating progress of science and technology in order to meet the demand of society in all stages of development.

From 2009-2010, the University applied new training program for both undergraduate and graduate. The training program was designed in the basis of knowledge modularized unit credit (TC) which created favorable conditions for students to choose academic programs that consistent with the plan and personal conditions. On the other hand, the program structure only easily allows to study connected system between majors which opens up possibilities for career change or transition to the higher education level. The design of credit training program creates more favorable conditions for learners but requires Universities have to improve the response in many ways.
